ASCO was founded in 1888 as a manufacturer of elevator, compressor, and generator controls. In 1910, the company invented a new
electrically operated control device known as the solenoid valve. Additional products were introduced during the 1970s, such as airoperated
valves, manual reset valves, and pressure and temperature switches.
In 1985, ASCO was acquired by Emerson, one of the world’s largest and most respected industrial corporations.
